The short answer
A single dental implant in Cozumel runs $850 to $1,500 USD, a zirconia crown $300 to $550, and a full-arch All-on-4 $8,000 to $13,000 per arch. Those are the ranges Molar City publishes for this price tier, and they hold across the 67 clinics we track on the island. They are ranges, not quotes. The number you are given after an exam depends on imaging, bone condition, materials, and whether extractions or grafting are needed first.
What should be inside an implant quote
The single most common reason two quotes look different is that they are counting different things. Before comparing, make sure each written plan states whether these are included or extra:
- Imaging, specifically a CBCT scan rather than only a panoramic x-ray.
- The implant fixture itself, named by brand and system.
- The abutment, the connector between fixture and crown. This is frequently quoted separately.
- The final crown and its material.
- Extractions, if the tooth is still in place.
- Bone graft or sinus lift, if the scan shows you need one. This is the single biggest swing factor.
- Follow-up visits and the temporary tooth, if any, during healing.
A quote that lists one number with no breakdown is not a quote. Ask for the itemized version in writing.

Why two clinics price the same case differently
It is rarely arbitrary. The usual drivers are:
- Implant brand. Long-established systems cost more than generic ones, and the difference shows up years later when a component needs replacing and the part still exists.
- Who performs the surgery. A general dentist and an oral surgeon or periodontist do not have the same cost base.
- Prosthetic material. Zirconia, porcelain fused to metal and acrylic are not interchangeable in price or longevity.
- Laboratory. Some clinics use an in-house lab, some send work to the mainland. On an island that also affects timing.
- What the quote silently excludes. Usually the abutment or the graft.
The island factor in your budget
Treatment prices in Cozumel are standard for the tourist corridor. What is different is travel. Implants are a two-stage plan: placement, then months of healing, then the final crown. On an island that means two sets of flights, or two ferry crossings plus mainland lodging. Build that into the comparison before you decide Cozumel over a mainland city.
The rough threshold: if your total treatment is below about two crowns' worth of work, a dedicated trip rarely pays for itself. Above that, the 50 to 70 percent gap against typical United States and Canadian pricing usually absorbs the travel.
Paying: dollars or pesos
US dollars are accepted across Cozumel because of the cruise traffic, and clinics will quote in them. Ask for the same plan quoted in pesos as well. The exchange rate a business applies is generally less favourable than the one your card gives you, and on a multi-thousand-dollar plan that difference is real money.
How to compare fairly
- Get two or three written plans from clinics on your shortlist, each after an exam with imaging.
- Put them side by side and mark every line one includes that another does not.
- Ask each clinic to quote the missing lines, so you are comparing the same case.
- Ask about the warranty: what it covers, for how long, and whether claiming it requires flying back.
- Ask who is accountable for a complication after you leave the island, and what that costs.

When the numbers say do not travel
- The work is small. One filling does not pay for a flight or a ferry.
- You cannot commit to the second stage months later.
- You are in pain or have an active infection right now. Treat that at home first.
- Your physician has not cleared you for surgery or travel.
What moves your personal number inside the range
Two patients can get honest quotes at opposite ends of the same range. The usual reasons:
- Bone volume. If the scan shows you need grafting or a sinus lift, that is added surgery, added materials and added healing time.
- How long the tooth has been missing. Bone resorbs over time, which is why an old gap often costs more than a recent extraction.
- Position in the mouth. Front teeth carry cosmetic demands that back teeth do not, and that shows up in the prosthetic work.
- Your general health. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and some medications affect healing and therefore planning.
None of this can be assessed from a photograph or a chat message. It is why a serious clinic will not give you a firm number before imaging.
What Molar City is, and is not
Molar City has been an independent dental tourism directory since 2007. We are not a dental clinic and we do not practice dentistry, and we do not quote prices on a clinic's behalf. The ranges above are published reference ranges; your written plan comes from the dentist who examines you. See also our Cozumel dental guide.
