Choosing a Dentist in Dubai: The Complete Guide for Residents
Quick answer: A practical guide for expats who live in Dubai: how the DHA-licensed market works, what dental care costs in AED and USD, what insurance covers, and when Turkey is worth a look.

The short answer

If you live in Dubai, you have one of the most modern private dental markets in the region on your doorstep, and you will pay for it. Molar City tracks 162 dental clinics across the city. City-level estimates put a single implant at about $1,500 to $2,600 USD (roughly AED 5,500 to 9,500), a zirconia crown at $500 to $900 (AED 1,850 to 3,300) and a routine cleaning at $80 to $150 (AED 300 to 550). Dubai is not a low-cost destination. Its real value is a licensed, regulated market, modern equipment, and a dentist you can see again next week without boarding a plane.

Who this guide is for

Most of our Dubai readers are not medical tourists. They are residents — British, Indian, Filipino, European, American, Pakistani, Egyptian, Lebanese and many more — who need a dentist in the city where they live and work. Many arrive with a dentist back home they trusted for years and now have to start again. Others have had a cleaning or two on insurance and are now facing a bigger decision: an implant, a crown, a set of veneers. This guide is about making that choice well.

How Dubai's dental market is organised

Almost all routine dental care for expats is private. Clinics range from large multi-specialty centres with several dentists, in-house imaging and their own labs, to small practices run by one or two dentists in a villa or a tower. They are spread across the city, but a few areas stand out:

  • Dubai Healthcare City, near Oud Metha and Al Jaddaf by Dubai Creek, is a medical free zone with a dense cluster of hospitals and clinics.
  • Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim, along Jumeirah Beach Road and Al Wasl Road, have many boutique and family practices.
  • Dubai Marina, JLT and Al Barsha serve the newer districts, often in towers and malls.
  • Deira, Bur Dubai and Karama, the older city, have many clinics at lower price points.

Price differences between these areas can be substantial for the same procedure, which is why comparing at least two written plans is worth the effort.

How to check a dentist's licence

Dubai is a regulated market, and you can use that. Dentists and clinics in most of the emirate are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), and you can look up a practitioner on the DHA's public register (the Sheryan portal) to confirm the licence is active and whether it is as a general dentist or a specialist. Clinics inside Dubai Healthcare City are licensed by that free zone's own authority instead, which also lists its licensed professionals. If you are paying specialist fees for an implant, root canal or orthodontic case, confirm the specialist title, not only the clinic's marketing.

What dental care costs in Dubai

These are city-level estimates for Dubai's private clinics, shown in US dollars with approximate dirham equivalents at 1 USD to about 3.67 AED, next to typical US prices for reference. They are not a quote from any clinic.

ProcedureDubai (USD)Dubai (approx. AED)Typical US (USD)
Single implant (titanium)$1,500 – $2,6005,500 – 9,550$2,500 – $5,000
Zirconia crown$500 – $9001,850 – 3,300$1,200 – $1,800
Porcelain veneer$500 – $1,0001,850 – 3,650$1,500 – $2,500
Root canal + crown$800 – $1,5002,950 – 5,500$2,000 – $3,000
All-on-4 (one arch)$9,000 – $15,00033,000 – 55,000$20,000 – $30,000
Cleaning$80 – $150300 – 550$150 – $300
Professional whitening$250 – $500900 – 1,850$500 – $1,000

If you come from the UK or the US, those numbers may feel reasonable. If you come from India, the Philippines or much of Europe, they will feel high, and you are right: Dubai sits well above most of the world on price.

Your insurance: check the policy, not the brochure

Most Dubai residents have health insurance through their employer, and many assume it covers the dentist. Often it covers only part of it. A typical employer plan includes basic dental care — an examination, a cleaning, X-rays, fillings and sometimes simple extractions — with an annual limit and a co-payment. Implants, veneers, whitening and orthodontics are frequently excluded or capped, and crowns may be covered only when they are medically necessary. Plans differ a great deal, so check your policy: look for the dental benefit, the annual cap, the co-payment percentage, whether pre-approval is needed and whether your clinic is in the insurer's network. Ask the clinic's front desk to request pre-approval before treatment starts; it is a routine request and it avoids a surprise bill.

Five questions to ask before you commit

  • Who will treat me, and what is their licence? Get the name and check the register.
  • What exactly is in the quote? For an implant: the fixture, the abutment, the crown, any bone graft and the follow-up visits. For a crown: the material and the lab.
  • Which brands and materials? Implant systems and crown materials vary widely in cost; the brand should be written down.
  • Is VAT included? The UAE applies 5% VAT on many services; ask whether your treatment is quoted with or without it.
  • What happens if something fails? Ask how the clinic handles a loose crown or a failed implant, and get the answer in writing.

Dubai or Turkey?

Sooner or later, a colleague will tell you they had their teeth done in Istanbul or Antalya for a fraction of the Dubai price. It is true that Turkey sits in a much lower price tier, and the flight is only about four and a half to five hours. For large cases, like a full arch or a dozen crowns, the saving can easily pay for the flights and hotels. For a single implant or a crown, the maths is much tighter once you count two trips, time off work and the fact that any follow-up problem means flying back. We explain the trade-off in detail in our article on dental trips from Dubai to Turkey, and our Istanbul guide and Antalya guide show the other side of the comparison.

How the Molar City ranking works

Our ranking of Dubai dental clinics is free and independent. It covers every clinic our October 2026 scan could find, not only partners, and scores each one on its public digital footprint: reviews, information published, responsiveness and consistency across platforms. No clinic can pay to move up. It is a starting point for your shortlist, not a substitute for meeting the dentist and getting a written plan.
