Why Choose Punta Cana for Dental Care?

Punta Cana is not a city in the usual sense: it is a long strip of resorts, beaches and small towns on the eastern tip of the island, from Cap Cana in the south through Punta Cana village to Bávaro and Macao. Its dental market is smaller than the capital's, but for many treatments the combination of a short direct flight and a week at the beach is the whole point.

Direct flights from North America

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is one of the busiest in the Caribbean, with nonstop service from many US East Coast and Midwest cities and from Canada, much of it seasonal. Check the current schedule from your city.

77 clinics tracked

Our October 2026 scan found 77 dental clinics in the Punta Cana area, mostly around Bávaro, Verón and Punta Cana village. It is a smaller market than Santo Domingo, which is why we tell you when a case is worth sending to the capital.

Recovery with a view

Between appointments you are steps from some of the Caribbean's best-known beaches. Just follow your dentist's rules after surgery: usually no swimming, alcohol or strong sun for the first days.

Dollars widely accepted

The official currency is the Dominican peso (DOP), but in the resort area US dollars and cards are widely accepted. Ask each clinic which currency your written quote is in.

How to Get to Your Dentist in Punta Cana

Almost every patient flies into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). Bávaro is roughly 20 to 30 minutes away by road, Cap Cana a little closer.

Getting there

  • Fly into PUJ — Nonstop flights from many US and Canadian cities, more of them in the winter season.
  • Transfers — Pre-booked shuttles, hotel transfers and taxis connect the airport with Bávaro, Cap Cana and Verón.
  • From Santo Domingo — If your case is referred to the capital, it is about 2.5 to 3 hours by road; Las Américas (SDQ) is the capital's airport.
  • Getting around — Distances between resorts are long; use taxis, your hotel's transport or a ride arranged by the clinic.

Planning the trip

  • Plan first, flights second — Get your treatment plan and number of visits in writing before you book.
  • Treatment early in the trip — Do the dental work in the first days and leave the beach for the end, with a spare day before flying home.
  • Mind hurricane season — Atlantic hurricane season runs June to November; December to April is drier and busier.
  • Ask about complex cases — For bone grafts, full-arch or zygomatic implants, ask whether the surgeon works locally or refers to Santo Domingo.

Documents needed: A passport valid for your whole stay. The Dominican Republic asks visitors to complete an electronic entry and exit form, and requirements can change, so check the current entry requirements for your passport on the official government sites before you fly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Punta Cana for dental work?
Fly into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), which has nonstop flights from many US and Canadian cities. Bávaro, where many clinics are, is roughly 20 to 30 minutes from the airport by road.
Is Punta Cana or Santo Domingo better for dental work?
Santo Domingo has the larger dental market and more specialists. Punta Cana is more convenient if you want a beach vacation and your treatment is routine, such as crowns, veneers or a few implants. For complex cases, compare both.
How much does dental work cost in Punta Cana?
Punta Cana sits in the Dominican Republic's pricing tier. A single titanium implant typically runs $900 to $1,500 USD, zirconia crowns $300 to $500, porcelain veneers $300 to $550, and All-on-4 full-arch cases $8,000 to $12,000. Those are city-level estimates, not a quote: the final number depends on the clinic, the materials and the complexity of your case, and only a written treatment plan will tell you what you will actually pay.
How many dental clinics are there in Punta Cana?
Molar City tracks 77 dental clinics in Punta Cana in its independent ranking (October 2026 scan). The ranking is free, covers every clinic we can find rather than only partners, and is scored from each clinic's public digital footprint. No clinic can pay for its position. You can see the full list on our Punta Cana ranking page.
Can I swim in the sea after dental surgery?
Usually not for the first days after extractions or implant surgery. Ask your dentist for specific instructions and plan the beach days after the surgical part of your trip.
Do dentists in Punta Cana speak English?
In a resort area many clinics work with foreign patients and have English-speaking staff, but it varies. Confirm before you book and get the treatment plan in writing in a language you understand.
What currency do clinics in Punta Cana use?
The official currency is the Dominican peso (DOP). In the resort area many clinics quote in US dollars and accept cards. Ask which currency your written quote is in and whether card payments carry a surcharge.
When is the best time to go to Punta Cana for dental work?
December to April is the drier, busier season. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, so if you travel then, keep your plans flexible and buy travel insurance.
