The short answer
Izmir is Turkey's third-largest city and its main port on the Aegean, a relaxed, seafront city that many patients find easier than Istanbul. Molar City tracks 220 dental clinics in Izmir. City-level estimates put a single implant at about $400 to $900 USD, a zirconia crown at $150 to $320, a porcelain veneer at $200 to $400 and an All-on-4 arch at $3,000 to $6,000. Prices sit in the same Turkish tier as Istanbul and Antalya; what Izmir changes is the pace, the airport distance and what you do between appointments.
Why patients look at Izmir
Turkey's dental-tourism reputation was built largely in Istanbul and Antalya, but Izmir has a large dental sector of its own, serving a metropolitan population of several million and supported by university dental faculties in the city. That local market keeps prices tied to Turkish norms. For visitors, the attractions are practical:
- A closer airport. Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) is about 18 km south of the centre, reachable by the İZBAN suburban train, shuttle buses or taxi.
- A calmer city. The Kordon, a long seafront promenade in Alsancak, the ferries across the bay and a walkable centre make recovery days pleasant.
- Things to do nearby. Ephesus is roughly an hour south and the beach town of Çeşme about an hour west.
Where the clinics are
Izmir wraps around a deep bay. Most clinics that treat international patients are in a few districts:
- Alsancak: the lively, walkable heart of the southern shore, with cafés, the Kordon and many clinics.
- Konak: the historic centre, around the Clock Tower and the Kemeraltı bazaar.
- Karşıyaka: a calmer residential district across the bay, linked by frequent ferries.
- Bornova and Bayraklı: newer areas to the east, with business towers and the university district.
Staying near your clinic saves time and makes it easy to drop in for an adjustment.
Prices at a glance
| Procedure | Izmir (USD) | Typical US (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Single implant (titanium) | $400 – $900 | $2,500 – $5,000 |
| Zirconia crown | $150 – $320 | $1,200 – $1,800 |
| Porcelain veneer | $200 – $400 | $1,500 – $2,500 |
| Root canal + crown | $250 – $500 | $2,000 – $3,000 |
| All-on-4 (one arch) | $3,000 – $6,000 | $20,000 – $30,000 |
| Bone graft | $200 – $450 | $800 – $3,000 |
| Cleaning | $30 – $60 | $150 – $300 |
These are city-level estimates, never a clinic quote. Clinics usually quote in euros, pounds or dollars; the Turkish lira (TRY) is used day to day.
Who comes to Izmir
Patients from the UK and the rest of Europe make up much of the international flow, helped by direct flights, especially in summer. US patients usually connect through Istanbul. Residents of the Gulf also come, often combining treatment with a holiday on the Aegean coast. Whatever your origin, the logic is the same: large savings on major work, in exchange for travel and follow-up at a distance.
What a good written plan contains
Before you book flights, ask the clinic for an itemised plan based on your X-rays or a panoramic image. It should name the treating dentist, list every tooth and procedure, state the implant system and crown or bridge material, and show what is included: scans, temporaries, hotel nights, transfers and follow-up appointments. It should also say what happens if the plan changes after the in-person examination, which is common, and how complications after you return home are handled. A clinic that will not commit any of this to writing is telling you something.
Choosing a clinic
Turkish clinics are licensed by the Ministry of Health, and dentists must be registered with the Turkish Dental Association's chambers. Beyond the licence, look for:
- A named treating dentist whose training and experience you can check.
- Clear information on implant brands and labs.
- Consistent reviews across several platforms over time, not a sudden burst.
- Willingness to examine you before finalising the plan, and to recommend less treatment when that is enough.
Be wary of packages that promise a full set of crowns or veneers in two or three days on teeth that may be healthy. That is where most regret stories begin.
Safety and practicalities
Izmir is a large, busy city with the everyday precautions that implies: watch your phone and wallet in crowded places such as Kemeraltı bazaar, use licensed taxis or ride apps, and agree how you will pay before a long ride. Read your government's official travel advice for Turkey before you book, because it is updated as conditions change. Pharmacies (eczane) are everywhere and a rota of duty pharmacies stays open at night. Carry travel insurance, and check whether it covers complications from elective treatment abroad, since many standard policies do not.
A realistic budget
The treatment is only part of the cost. For a trip of five to seven days, add return flights, a hotel (many clinics include nights in a package, often in Alsancak or Konak), local transport, meals and travel insurance. Izmir is generally less expensive day to day than Istanbul, but prices for hotels rise in summer. For implants and full-arch work, remember there will be a second trip. A simple way to compare: write down the full cost of the Izmir plan including both trips, then compare it with a written quote from home for the same treatment and materials.
Language and communication
Clinics that work with international patients usually have English-speaking dentists or patient coordinators, and some also work in German, Dutch or Arabic. Make sure you know who will explain the plan and the consent forms, and who you will contact after you fly home. Keep the conversation in writing, by email or messaging, so there is a record of what was agreed.
Izmir, Istanbul or Antalya?
All three cities share the same price tier. Istanbul offers the widest choice of clinics and flights, at the cost of long transfers and crowds; see our Istanbul guide. Antalya is a resort city with beaches and a busy summer season; see our Antalya guide. Izmir sits in between: a real city, but a gentler one, with history and beaches within reach.
How the Molar City ranking works
Our Izmir ranking is free and independent. It covers every clinic our October 2026 scan found, not only partners, and scores each on its public digital footprint. No clinic can pay for its position. Use it to build a shortlist, then compare written plans.

Frequently asked questions
Is Molar City a clinic?
No. Molar City is an independent dental tourism platform that has guided patients since 2007. We do not provide treatment; we compare clinics, publish a free ranking and help patients plan.
Is Izmir cheaper than Istanbul?
Both are in the same Turkish price tier. Izmir's advantages are a calmer city and a closer airport, not a lower price.
Do dentists in Izmir speak English?
Clinics that treat international patients usually have English-speaking dentists or coordinators. Confirm who will speak with you during treatment.
How far is Izmir airport from the city?
Adnan Menderes Airport is about 18 km south of the centre, roughly 30 to 45 minutes by İZBAN train, shuttle bus or taxi.
Can I visit Ephesus during dental treatment?
Yes, on days without treatment. Ephesus is roughly an hour south by road or İZBAN train to Selçuk. Avoid long days in the sun right after surgery.
