Prices are the same in both: implants $850 to $1,500, zirconia crowns $300 to $550, All-on-4 $8,000 to $13,000. Cost is not the deciding factor between these two.
The case for Puebla
Puebla has several universities and dental schools, and cities that train dentists retain specialists. Oral surgery, endodontics and prosthodontics are all well represented. If your case is a full-arch rehabilitation, a graft, or an implant that needs a periodontist involved, that bench depth is a practical advantage: the whole case can be planned and completed in one city.
It is also easier to reach if you are already flying into Mexico City — two hours on a modern toll highway with departures all day.
The case for Oaxaca
Oaxaca has its own airport with non-stop service from several US cities, so you skip the highway leg entirely. The historic centre is compact and walkable, which means a treatment day costs you a morning rather than an afternoon in traffic.
And there is the honest part most comparisons skip: if you are going to spend on flights and a week of lodging, Oaxaca is a city people travel to for its own sake. The food, the mezcal, the craft villages, Monte Alban. If your treatment plan has gaps between appointments, that matters more than it sounds — patients who enjoy the destination finish the plan instead of cutting the trip short.
How to decide
- Complex or surgical case? Lean Puebla for the specialist depth.
- Straightforward crowns, veneers or a single implant? Either works; pick on flights and preference.
- Flying through Mexico City anyway? Puebla is two hours away.
- Is there a non-stop to Oaxaca from your airport? That usually settles it.
- Travelling with someone who is not having treatment? Oaxaca gives them more to do.
What does not differ
The verification work is identical in both cities, and it is what actually determines your outcome: a written treatment plan issued after imaging, the implant system named by brand, the treating dentist's credentials and specialist training, clear warranty terms, and a spare day before your flight home. A good clinic in Oaxaca beats a mediocre one in Puebla and vice versa. The city is the smaller half of the decision.
